It’s about a half-hour ride in the fresh, salty air. Ferries leave from Bay Shore, Sayville and Patchogue depending on the town you are going to. The Fire island Ferries
The Bay Shore ferry terminal services Kismet, Saltaire, Fair Harbor, Dunewood/Atlantique, Ocean Beach, Seaview, Ocean Bay Park, and Point O’Woods. The Sayville ferry terminal services Cherry Grove, the Fire Island Pines, Sunken Forest and Water Island. The Patchogue ferry terminal services Davis Park and Watch Hill.
The Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) provides frequent train service from Pennsylvania Station to Bayshore, Patchogue and Sayville. Get schedules and other information here. Shuttle/taxi service is available from the train stations to the ferry terminals.
The Island is also accessible by private boat or water taxi. Boaters can dock at several bayfront restaurants, as well as in the marinas in Kismet, Saltaire, Fair Harbor, Dunewood, Atlantique, Ocean Beach, Seaview, Ocean Bay Park, Watch Hill, Sailor’s Haven, Cherry Grove, Fire Island Pines, Water Island and Davis Park. Permits may be required.
